Cyprus salary calculator: net and employer cost
TAX YEAR 2026 Rates verified: 2026-07-20
Rates: tax year 2026 · 2026-07-20
This calculator turns a gross Cyprus salary into net pay — and into the number founders actually budget against: total employer cost. It uses the contribution rates and caps in force for 2026, including the income tax bands introduced by the December 2025 reform, so results will differ from last year’s and from most calculators that haven’t caught up.
The 2026 parameters it uses
Employee side: income tax on the new bands (0% up to €22,000, then 20–35%), social insurance at 8.8% on earnings up to €68,904 a year, and GESY at 2.65% on income up to €180,000.
Employer side:
| Contribution | Rate | 2026 cap |
|---|---|---|
| Social insurance | 8.8% | €68,904/year |
| GESY | 2.90% | €180,000/year |
| Social Cohesion Fund | 2.0% | no cap |
| Redundancy Fund | 1.2% | €68,904/year |
| Industrial Training Fund | 0.5% | €68,904/year |
Below the social insurance ceiling, the statutory add-on to gross is 15.4%. The Holiday Fund (8% where an employer holds no exemption) is not included by default — whether it applies depends on your exemption status and leave arrangements, which we confirm during payroll setup.
What it doesn’t model
- Expat income tax reliefs (50%, 20%, 25%) — they change the employee’s net, not your cost; model them in the tax calculator.
- The new 2026 personal deductions for children, housing and energy — personal to the employee and conditional on on-time filing.
- Benefits in kind, bonuses and 13th-salary arrangements — these are contractual choices; the calculator prices the base salary.
- The 8% flat regime for qualifying stock options.
Two notes before you budget
Caps move annually. The €68,904 insurable-earnings ceiling was set on 22 December 2025 and replaces 2025’s €66,612 — re-run your numbers each January rather than rolling budgets forward.
Rates are stable, on a schedule. The 8.8% social insurance rate is fixed under a five-year step plan that began in 2024; the next statutory increase is scheduled for 2029. So a 2026 budget holds, but a five-year headcount plan should not assume today’s rates forever.
If the hire is a non-EU specialist, employer cost is only half the planning — the work permit route sets salary floors of its own. And when the headcount is real, our payroll service runs the monthly cycle these numbers come from.
